The Sacred Site of the America Flushing Meadows Correction Omniangels is the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, which is located in northern Queens, New York City, U.S.A. Encompassing 1,255 acres (5 square kilometers), the park was once the site of both the 1939/1940 and the 1964/1965 New York World's Fair. Today as the second largest park in the city (Central Park being the largest), the Flushing Meadows Park is managed by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreations. In 1946, the nascent United Nations used some of the 1939/1940 World's Fair buildings for their temporary headquarters before moving in 1951 to their permanent Manhattan headquarters. The theme of the 1964/1965 New York World's Fair, Universal and International Exposition was "Peace Through Understanding" dedicated to "Man's Achievement on a Shrinking Globe in an Expanding Universe". The Fair; however, turned out to be more of a showcase for the American corporate culture than an international exposition. The main sculptural feature of the park and symbol of the 1964/1965 World's Fair was a twelve story high stainless steel Unisphere depicting our Earth of "The Space Age". The sculpture, which was constructed on the same site as the 1939/1940 World's Fair Perisphere, still stands today; and, its dry fountains are a popular skateboarding site. An enormous scale model panorama of the entire city of New York was displayed in both of the New York World's Fairs. The model panorama continues to be housed and updated in the same Word's Fairs building, which is now the home of the Queens Museum of Art. Since 1978 when the park became the home of the United States Tennis Association, the US Open tennis tournament is played there every year. There are bicycle paths around both Meadow Lake and Willow Lake within the park. Rowboats rentals are available for the two lakes. The Flushing Meadows-Corona Park also has playgrounds and playing fields.
