The Sacred Site focal point of the Haiti La Visite Environment Omniangels is the Parc National La Visite and Jacmel by Horseshoe Bay, which is located in the southeast part of the countryside of Haiti. Encompassing about three thousand hectares, the park includes the highest mountain of Haiti, the 8,793 feet (2,680 metres) high Pic de la Selle, which is part of the Haitian Chaîne de la Selle mountain chain. Parc National La Visite consists primarily of broadleaf forest, grasslands, and pine forest. An important watershed with numerous creeks and streams, the park provides habitat and wildlife species endemic to the island of Hispaniola. A sanctuary for birds some of the species found there include: Antillean Siskins, Antillean Grackles, Bobwhites, Black-Crowned Palm Tanagers, Caribbean Martins, Grassquits (Black-Faced, Yellow-Faced), Golden Swallows, Ground Doves, Hispaniolan Emeralds, Hispaniolan Trogon, Hispaniolan Woodpecker, La Selle Thrushes, Red-Tailed Hawks, Red Legged Thrushes, Palm Chats, Palm Crows, Palm Swifts, Pine Warblers, Village Weavers, Western Chat Tanagers, and, White Necked Crows. Founded in 1698, Jacmel by Horseshoe Bay is the quaint charming capital of the Southeast department of Haiti. Nineteenth century homes with French cast iron balconies and pillars have been converted into artisan shops.
