The Sacred Site focal point of the Japan Global Omniangels is the Floating Torri, Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima, Japan. Celebrated as a scared island Miyajima means "Shrine Island" in Japanese. Miyajima has one of the three most scenic views in Japan. About a five to ten minute walk from the Miyajima ferry pier, the Itsukushima Shrine was partially constructed over water in the sixth century. The famous, large wooden floating torri gate stands in the ocean during high tide. During the evening, the shrine is illuminated, and, overnight visitors stroll down the peaceful street in their geta and yukata.
