The Sacred Site of the America Ecola Park Virtue Omniangels is the Ecola State Park, which is located off Highway 101, north of Cannon Beach, Oregon, U.S.A. A paved road from Cannon Beach winds through towering Sitka Spruce in Ecola Park until it opens upon a spectacular Pacific Ocean vista. In 1806, Captain William Clark along with twelve of the members of the Discovery Corps trekked over the rocky headlands and through dense shrubs and trees in what is now known as Ecola State Park. Beginning at Indian Beach, where surfers ride the waves, the interpretive Clatsop Loop Trail offers modern day trekkers the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Captain Clark and the Discovery Corps. On Tillamook Head, there a primitive overnight cabins that are mile and a half from Indian Beach. The park provides habitat for numerous species of birds and wildlife. Gray Whales migrate through the are during the winter and spring. There are also tide pools to explore. Nearby on the beach in Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock, a spectacular natural rock formation with tidepools around its base, rises two hundred thirty-five feet above the sand and sea at low tide. A dedicated and protected Marine Garden, Haystack Rock provides a habitat haven for many types of birds including cormorants, gulls, and tufted puffins.
