The Sacred Site focal point of the America Gettysburg Virtue Omniangels is the Gettysburg National Military Park, which is located in and around the Borough of Gettysburg in Adams County, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. The environs around Gettysburg are the site of two historic landmarks memorializing the Battle of Gettysburg that was fought from July 1-3, 1863, the Gettysburg National Military Park and the Gettysburg National Cemetery. The battle left 7,000 dead and 30, 000 wounded men; as well as, thousands of animal carcasses. The bulk of the dead were buried where they fell. Land was purchased to preserve the area as a monument; and, on November 19, 1863, Abraham Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address at the dedication of the Soldier's National Cemetery. On May 1, 1872, Gettysburg became a National Cemetery administered by the United States War Department. Then on February 11, 1895, Gettysburg was established as a National Military Park. More than eight hundred acres and three hundred monuments were transferred in 1933. On the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg around 1,845 veterans attended a reunion at Gettysburg National Military Park. On the evening of July 3, 1938, the Eternal Flame was lit on Oak Hill and the Eternal Light Peace Memorial was dedicated on Oak Hill.
